Pittsburgh Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to perpetuating the Susan G. Komen story, promise and voice by providing access to education, mammograms and screenings, advocacy and hope, and by serving as a breast health information leader. The Pittsburgh Affiliate is honored to be working closely with National Komen, so that we may bring you the latest information about breast cancer.
Why are we dedicated to keeping this promise?
Because hundreds of thousands of Americans - including many in our local community - will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. With survivors and activists in 125 cities and communities, more than 100 Komen Race for the Cure® events in the United States and three International Affiliates, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer today.

The Pittsburgh Affiliate was recently recognized at this year's Hot Pink Pittsburgh as one of two recipients of the Adagio Health Tempo Award. The Pittsburgh Affiliate thanks Adagio Health for acknowledging the many accomplishments of the Pittsburgh Affiliate in its fight against breast cancer as it contributes to the health and well-being of women in our region.
Komen Gives Unprecedented $100 Million in Grants to Help Fast-Track Research for Cancer Patients Determined to fast-track research to provide help for breast cancer patients who can't wait, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is distributing an unprecedented $100 million in grants to American and international scientists this year alone.
Some of the biggest questions to be tackled by the Komen-funded research include:
1. Why do some breast cancers respond to certain treatments, and others don't?
2. How can we prevent the spread of breast cancer to other organs?
3. Do diet and/or obesity play a role in cancer development and treatment?
4. Can we predict who is most at risk for developing breast cancer?
5. Can we develop a cancer "vaccine?"
6. What technologies will help detect breast cancer at its earliest possible stage?
